Project 1 / What’s the weather?

This is a series of six weather icons that animate in various ways when they are clicked. This was my first time using CSS & Javascript. This project helped me get a handle on how to use CSS to lay out a page with margins and positioning and how to use multiple stylesheets in one page. The Javascript—which turned the CSS animations into a click-based outcome—was sourced from the web.

Project 2 / The Bespoke Book

TheBespokeBook.com is a website that provides its users with book recommendations from experts. More than 300,000 books are published every year in the U.S. alone—on top of millions of existing books—so it’s little surprise that the average reader needs help finding what they’re looking for. But as Amazon edges out brick-and-mortar bookstores and libraries, customers are missing out on the experience and knowledge of bookstore clerks and librarians. The Bespoke Book attempts to migrate this human relationship over to the web, in order to help readers base their book-buying decisions on a more reliable framework. Unlike customer reviews or an online community like Goodreads, this relationship is intentionally hierarchical. It is meant to draw on the wealth of knowledge of experts (bookstore clerks, librarians, teachers, grad students, etc.) in order to provide readers with a carefully curated reading list.

Final Project / Pup Picker

Pup Picker is an app that helps you choose what kind of dog to get. You take a simple quiz and at the end, it gives you 3 types of breeds to consider. You can get more information on each breed by clicking to an outside website.
